On one of the biggest weekends for the people of Fairbanks due to the summer solstice, we celebrated the opening of the new Madden Real Estate building on Gaffney Rd. The celebration started with KIAK 102.5 providing us with country music and Bad 2 DA Bone BBQ providing the delicious food, which consisted of pulled pork or baked chicken, brisket beans, corn and coleslaw! They also had a variety of sauces to accentuate the tender barbecue. The music and food helped to create a wonderful atmosphere for all of us to enjoy the warm, summer day outside. While we waited for the ribbon cutting, all the local business partners and associates enjoyed the company of one another. One realtor even pranked another realtor during her video testimony giving all of us quite a chuckle. While waiting for the ribbon cutting, I decided to take advantage of the time to see the newly designed building, which I must add has central air conditioning. Anyone who lives in Alaska knows how great this is alone! Some other great features are the children room for clients who have small children and a gym for the realtors! Wes even provided a full size shower for his realtors to use after they work out. If you ever thought of going into real estate, Wes is the boss to have and most definitely the company to use if you are selling or buying. While inside I heard the KIAK DJ stating he was giving away gift certificates, so I quickly proceeded outside. He asked if anyone had a $2 bill or a gold $1 coin on them to win a Food Factory gift certificate. Immediately, Senator Lisa Murkowski said she had one in her vehicle and rushed to her vehicle to make sure she showed the DJ she honestly had one on her. She even gave the DJ the coin as a souvenir from her. After the giveaway, we proceeded into honoring Wes for everything that he has done for this community and our country; he was even honored by Senator Lisa Murkowski. Wes is a veteran who decided to become an entrepreneur and now owns the number one realty company in Alaska. What he has been able to achieve is truly inspirational and I hope one day I can achieve a quarter of what he has been able to achieve. At the end of the Lisa Murkowski's speech, she presented a flag to Wes that has been flown at our country's capital and you can tell he was truly honored at this gift. It was now Wes Madden's turn to give his speech and it definitely got a little emotional! He thanked all the businesses who helped him during the process, but where it became personal was when he thanked his wife and father, who is a Vietnam War veteran himself. Insert drum roll here and "let's get it started" by the Black Eyed Peas for the super cheesy effect. Now the event everyone has been waiting for has arrived. The ribbon cutting! The Chamber of Commerce had an active role in this ceremony and helped provide the massive scissors every company needs to their ribbon cutting out of tradition. After the ribbon ceremony, Wes showed off the new building to the guests and I got to follow along. You can tell from the expressions of people during the showing, they were all impressed, as was I. While I was in there, I decided to take some shots and show some of the amazing team working at this office! Upon taking the tour of the new building, the celebration was coming to an end. Even though the event was over, the legacy of Wes will live on and the doors of this new building are now open for business! Now enjoy the rest of the pictures from this celebration! The End.
